New Issue of „Pictures of the Future“ (Fall 2010)

The latest issue of the research magazine Pictures of the Future includes reports on sustainable mobility, the development of emerging markets, and demographic change. The magazine provides an overview of the challenges posed by the rising volume of traffic worldwide and describes which technologies can help to make this increasing mobility more sustainable. A second point of focus is how the BRIC nations (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) are making the jump from emerging market to industrial nation with the help of research and technology. On the subject of demographic change, Pictures of the Future addresses technical solutions for an increasingly aging population. These range from innovations for the earlier detection and treatment of diseases to technologies intended to enable older people to live independently for as long as possible. Interviews with politicians such as Martha Delgado, Mexico City’s Minister of the Environment and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer supplement these features as do talks with heart specialists from the University of Utah and gerontologist Ursula Staudinger. The magazine can be ordered free of charge on the Internet.
