HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management Issues New Research Report

HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management just published its latest Research Report () which documents projects from research, teaching and knowledge transfer from 2014 to 2015. The issue offers insight into the status and development of HHL’s research to professional circles and the interested public.

Dean Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart says, „Issuing its third biennial Research Report since the implementation of the innovate125 HHL Future Concept, the university enters this anniversary year by confidently emphasizing its goal of leading the first business faculty established in the German-speaking region into the top ten graduate business schools in Europe by 2023. Many growth and quality-related goals defined in the HHL Future Concept have already been achieved – most of them earlier than expected.“ According to Prof. Dr. Pinkwart, the specialization which is required to achieve visibility for the research is accompanied by a willingness for close cooperation and interaction with various sub-disciplines, which has increased in number over the course of the implementation of the innovate125 Future Concept and were extended by areas intersecting with other research fields such as law, psychology and medicine. Prof. Dr. Pinkwart, who also holds the Stiftungsfonds Deutsche Bank Chair of Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship, goes on to say, „HHL is closely connected with the areas of strategy and international matters, finance, accounting and corporate governance as well as innovation, and therefore continues to develop into an ideal research partner for the economy and science in central fields of the future through its topical focus on entrepreneurship, digital leadership and transformation, sustainability and competitiveness as well as economics and regulation.“

„The Community Regards HHL as a Serious Research Institution“

External scientists comment on HHL’s scientific strategy and activities at regular intervals. Prof. Dr. Holger Burckhart, Rector of the University of Siegen, serves as the spokesman for HHL’s Scientific Advisory Board. He says, „For the last five years, HHL has been on an excellent path regarding its research, teaching as well as its campus management.“ Thanks to the academic group structure, questions may now be accumulated for research and teaching and processed in a cooperative manner like never before at the Leipzig business school. The community regards HHL as a serious research institution. The research hubs Center for Advanced Studies in Management (CASiM) and Center for Entrepreneurial and Innovative Management (CEiM) are particularly relevant in this context as they focus on interdisciplinary questions across groups. In teaching, the level of understanding among the lecturers has increased significantly thanks to the cooperation. This results in synergies which are also reflected in the growing number of students, for instance.“ The Scientific Advisory Board strongly supports HHL’s focus on general management. However, Prof. Burckhart also recommends, „This important characteristic of HHL’s profile needs to be developed more as a system of learning. The HHL scientists should address this topic from a research perspective – with how HHL defines itself, much more in-depth and by filling a market niche.“

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of HHL’s resumption of instruction, the new Research Report contains quotes and profiles from supporters of the school. The Saxon State Minister for Science and the Arts, Dr. Eva-Maria Stange, honorary doctors of HHL such as the President of the ifo Institute, Prof. Dr. Hans-Werner Sinn, and Nobel Prize laureate Prof. Michael Spence, Ph.D., amongst others, share their testimonials.
